The book ‘Gdynia – wspólnota wspólnot’ (Gdynia – a community of communities), published by KACK Publishing House, tells the story of a church on the border between Gdynia and Sopot, which no longer exists, the lives of the people who built Gdynia, the first communities and dreams that came true. The publication, released on the 100th anniversary of Gdynia being granted city rights, was very well received by readers.
Stowarzyszenie Katolickie Centrum Kultury (The Catholic Cultural Centre Association) in Mały Kack, Gdynia, encourages everyone who holds Gdynia dear to read the book ‘Gdynia – wspólnota wspólnot’ (Gdynia – a community of communities) (volume 1).
The first part (of the first volume) is the work of Małgorzata Sokołowska, a Gdynia writer and enthusiast of the city's history. It tells the tale of the origins and development of Gdynia's communities over the course of a hundred years of the existence of the city's born of the sea and dreams.
The second part (of the first volume) is a collective work edited by writer and social activist Anna Halasz, which marks the beginning of a story about contemporary communities, movements and associations operating in Gdynia, where the city's residents serve others for the good and future of the city. About those who still dream and have more dreams than memories.
The publication is one of the ways in which the Catholic Cultural Centre Association, which is building a home for communities in Gdynia, namely the Catholic Cultural Centre in Mały Kack, is joining in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Gdynia being granted city rights - and thus opening the celebration of its own 10th anniversary of existence and activity.
