An open-air theatre, unique choreography, lighting and multimedia effects – this is what the artistic spectacle ‘Gdynia STO*RY’ will look like on the occasion of our city's centenary. On Tuesday, 10 February, a parade will walk down 10 Lutego Street, bringing participants into a birthday mood. Artists have been preparing for weeks for the street performance, which will feature local actors, dancers, pupils from the Youth Culture Centre and local companies specialising in outdoor and technical productions.
Gdynia's 100th birthday is fast approaching, which is why intensive preparations are underway for the events that will take place this coming Tuesday. At Polsat Plus Arena Gdynia, artists are rehearsing for the birthday parade that will take place on 10 Lutego Street.
The show will be led by the mysterious Allegory of Gdynia, a figure who is neither the spirit of the city nor the narrator of the entire show, who will open a colourful procession of history presented through images, dance, colour and sound. The story will consist of five fragments of Gdynia's history, striking the sensitive and important chords of the city's identity from its birth to the present day. Large-format platforms will be used to create these historical puzzles.
The entire 10 Lutego Street will be transformed into a living stage set. Some of the buildings will be illuminated, while others will display animations providing a backdrop to the story being told. A particularly important venue for the show will be the intersection of 10 Lutego Street and Władysława IV Street, where viewers will find the most attractions, including those requiring them to look up.

Local artists will also perform in the artistic show, including the pupils of the Youth Culture Centre in Gdynia.
We are currently preparing for the Gdynia parade. It will be an extraordinary street show called GDYNIA STO*RY. The atmosphere is fantastic, there are a lot of us, 260 participants going wild, enjoying and rejoicing in such a wonderful celebration as the centenary of Gdynia, says Elżbieta Cupiał, director of the Youth Culture Centre in Gdynia.
Artists from the Youth Culture Centre are busy preparing for the anniversary parade.
During the performance, we will dance with unusual props in the form of large, colourful cubes. We have been preparing for many weeks and have been rehearsing very intensively. We are very happy to be able to participate in such a unique event as the 100th anniversary of our city, say Gabriela and Oskar, dancers from the Youth Culture Centre.
The artistic performance will take place on Tuesday, 10 February, at 7 p.m. The colourful parade will set off along 10 Lutego Street.
