Public transport and road traffic changes between 7 and 10 February

On 10 February, we will celebrate the city's 100th birthday. On this day, we will come together for an artistic spectacle and a grand outdoor concert – free events organised in the city centre. The Musical Theatre will also host a ceremonial session of the Gdynia City Council. Public transport will be free for all events taking place in the city centre. We encourage you to use it, as there will be changes to road traffic in the city between 7 and 10 February.

On Tuesday, 10 February, public transport buses and trolleybuses in Gdynia will be free for all passengers.


10 February – route changes

On this day, until 6:30 p.m., the routes of all lines will remain unchanged.

Between 6:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. – during the closure of 10 Lutego Street and its cross streets – the routes of the following bus and trolleybus lines will change: R, S, W, Z, 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 32, 33, 34, 105, 109, 128, 133, 140, 147, 150, 152, 160, 182, 190 and 282.

All lines running from Rumia and Obłuże along Wiśniewskiego Street to City Centre and further to Wzgórze św. Maksymiliana (R, 32, 128, 150, 152 and 282) will be redirected along Dworcowa, Podjazd and Śląska Streets. Return routes on these lines will run along Śląska and Morska Streets and Estakada Kwiatkowskiego.

Routes ending at the Dworzec Główny PKP, Stocznia Gdynia or Dworzec Morski (23, 24, 29, 33, 133, 140, 147, 160 and 190) will be redirected to Świętojańska Street – to the Żwirki i Wigury 01 stop.

Return routes on these lines will start from the Armii Krajowej 02/04 stop on Władysława IV Street.

Lines connecting City Centre with Morska Street (S, W, 34, 105 and 109) will be redirected in both directions to Śląska Street, serving stops in the area of Wzgórze św. Maksymiliana SKM. The route changes for these lines from Morska Street will be in effect from 6:30 p.m.

Trolleybuses:

  • trolleybuses no. 22 will run on a shortened route to/from Wzgórze św. Maksymiliana SKM,
  • trolleybuses no. 25 will be directed to/from the Węzeł F. Cegielskiej terminus – via Śląska Street,
  • trolleybuses no. 28 will be directed to/from the Węzeł F. Cegielskiej terminus – via Warszawska Street.

From approximately 7:45 p.m. to approximately 11:15 p.m., only Świętojańska Street in the area of the intersection with 10 Lutego Street will remain closed. During this time, all buses will return to their regular routes, and trolleybuses no. 23, 24, 25, 29, 32 and 33 will bypass the closed section of the road via Władysława IV Street, running on batteries.

Trolleybuses no. 22 will remain on the designated detour to/from Wzgórze św. Maksymiliana, and trolleybuses no. 28 will remain on the detour to/from Węzeł F. Cegielskiej.


Additional transport services

To facilitate access to the outdoor show, additional bus services will be launched from individual districts to Gdynia city centre. For those travelling by car, a shuttle bus no. 909 will also be launched, connecting the car park at the sports and entertainment hall on Górskiego Street (Gdynia Arena stop) with Gdynia City Centre (Armii Krajowej stop on Władysława IV Street). The additional line will run every 10 minutes between 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. and between 7:45 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

After the concert at Kościuszki Square, additional bus and trolleybus services will be launched:

towards Chylonia, Cisowa and Pustki Cisowskie – from 10 Lutego Street (3 Maja 02 stop);

towards Obłuże, Oksywie and Pogórze – from Władysława IV Street (Armii Krajowej 03 stop);

towards Witomino and Chwarzno-Wiczlino – from Władysława IV Street (Armii Krajowej 04 stop);

towards Karwiny, Wielki Kack and Dąbrowa – from Władysława IV Street (Armia Krajowa 02 stop).

Changes in road traffic organisation

Between 7 and 10 February, there will also be changes in road traffic organisation on selected streets in Gdynia.


7 February – children's races and 1926

From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Aleja Jana Pawła II will be closed from Waszyngtona Street to the South Pier. Access to the marina will only be possible before that time.


8 February – Birthday Run (main)

At around 9:00 a.m., sections of the streets along the race route will be closed –Jana Pawła II Ave. (South Pier), Waszyngtona, Portowa, Wendy, Jana z Kolna, Wójta Radtkego, Starowiejska, Władysława IV (only the final one-way section), Świętojańska, Piłsudskiego Ave. from Świętojańska towards the bay (a crossing point at Legionów Str.), Prusa, Ejsmonda (from Prusa to the end of the street), Armii Krajowej (from the Musical Theatre to Zawiszy Czarnego Str. – a crossing point with Kamienna Góra is planned).

The following streets will be temporarily closed (it will not be possible to enter or exit them): Kościuszki Square, Żeromskiego, Pułaskiego, Derdowskiego, św. Wojciecha.

The route of the race has been planned in such a way as to maintain vehicle traffic at the railway station, along 10 Lutego Street and the two-way Władysława IV Street. It will also be possible to reach the St. Vincent de Paul Hospital from Starowiejska Street.

Traffic on closed sections will be gradually restored once the last competitors have passed, but no later than 1 p.m.

10 February – ceremonial session of the City Council at the Musical Theatre

Due to the ceremonial session of the Gdynia City Council, between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. there will be heavy traffic in the area of the Musical Theatre. During this time, we ask those planning to drive in the area of Armii Krajowej Street to be patient or to change their parking location in advance. Nearby municipal and private car parks may be occupied until 7:00 p.m.


Outdoor show and concert

Changes in road traffic organisation on 10 February: Podjazd Street (press materials)

On the night of 8 to 9 February, the entire Kościuszki Square (from Świętojańska to Waszyngtona Street) will be closed to traffic. Please remove your vehicles from this street (including side alleys) in advance. The road will be closed until 12:00 noon on 11 February.

On Tuesday, 10 February, at around 5:00 p.m., a section of Dworcowa Street (the lane towards the railway station from 10 Lutego Street) will be closed to traffic. Until 6:30 p.m., it will be possible to drive on the adjacent lanes.

During the show at 6:30 p.m., Podjazd and 10 Lutego Streets will be closed, as well as Władysława IV Street (from Armii Krajowej to 10 Lutego Street) and Świętojańska Street (from Pułaskiego to Zygmuntowska Street). The connection between the northern and southern parts of the city centre and Kamienna Góra will be possible via Dworcowa and Podjazd Streets (exit from the northern part of the city centre) and Borchardta and Waszyngtona Streets (entrance to the northern part of the city centre).

The outdoor show will take place on 10 Lutego Street, towards Kościuszki Square, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. After crossing and passing Władysława IV Street, the following intersections and connecting roads will be open to all participants:

the entrance to the city centre via Podjazd Street,

the intersection of Dworcowa/10 Lutego, 10 Lutego/3 Maja and part of the intersection with Władysława IV Street.

10 Lutego Street from Batory Shopping Centre will remain closed until the concert participants disperse (until 10:30 p.m.). During the concert, Świętojańska Street (on the section mentioned above) will also remain closed. Traffic is planned to be restored at 11:00 p.m.


Free transport, limited parking spaces

On Tuesday, 10 February, we encourage residents to use free public transport. You will be able to reach the birthday events by bus until 6:45 p.m.

Those arriving by car are asked to use the car park at the Riviera Centre. It is likely that there will be no free spaces in the city centre. Residents of the northern districts of Gdynia will be able to use the car park on Jana z Kolna Street (access from Janka Wiśniewskiego Street) free of charge. This is a private car park located next to the market hall. On this day, the car park will be unguarded.
