To mark Gdynia's anniversary, we are preparing an extraordinary and symbolic project. A series of 100 unique video recordings will be created, in which representatives of the world of culture and public life from different corners of the globe will convey their personal wishes for our city.
Artists, actors, directors, musicians, writers, intellectuals and well-known media personalities will share their reflections, emotions and words addressed to Gdynia. Each statement will be unique – together they will create a mosaic of voices, values and feelings, which will become a symbolic gift for the city and its residents.
Why are we doing this?
The project aims to celebrate the anniversary in a modern and imaginative way, to show Gdynia as an open, creative and friendly place, and to build a network of international relations and friendships that transcend borders and cultural differences. It is the diversity of voices – coming from many countries and backgrounds – that will emphasise the uniqueness of Gdynia as a city open to the world, yet faithful to its roots.
The final result
The recorded wishes will be turned into a film collage – a moving and inspiring story showing how Gdynia is perceived by people of culture from all over the world. The film will be presented on social media, on the screens of the Gdynia Film Centre and in urban spaces, during anniversary events and in campaigns promoting our city.
Invitation to residents
Although well-known personalities will appear in the recordings, the entire project is primarily intended for residents. It is the residents of Gdynia, who are the recipients of these wishes and the heroes of the anniversary. The film will be an opportunity to see Gdynia through the eyes of people who, even from afar, recognise its strength, energy and beauty. It will be a unique gift for a city that has always looked to the future, inspiring with its openness, courage and maritime freedom.
