Starter to culture. Cultural education programme for the 100th anniversary of Gdynia
Gdynia's first comprehensive cultural education programme aimed at young people from secondary schools in Gdynia.
It will include lectures, workshops and talks on culture in the broadest sense, focusing on Gdynia's identity and community spirit, involving local artists and cultural animators as well as Gdynia-based non-governmental organisations active in the field of culture.
Classes on art and design history, modernism, the Gdynia music scene, creating sentimental maps of neighbourhoods, animated and feature films – all this awaits students of Gdynia's secondary schools, technical and vocational schools starting in November 2025.
Thanks to the programme, young people will have the opportunity to discover new creative passions and learn about the most interesting activities offered by Gdynia's institutions and non-governmental organisations.
The cultural studies lectures within the programme will be developed in cooperation with the University of Gdańsk – Department of Cultural Studies.
The classes will be conducted by lecturers, educators and cultural animators experienced in carrying out similar activities with young people.
All activities will take place during school hours and will be completely free of charge for students and teachers.
The programme will involve the wider cultural sector in Gdynia, in particular cultural institutions and NGOs, and will introduce them to young people in Gdynia, enabling them to become more active participants in the cultural life of the city in the future.
Participation in all events is free of charge. Online registration is required – information will be available soon.
