A surprise from SKM for Gdynia's anniversary

The Tri-City Rapid Urban Railway (SKM) has prepared a surprise for the upcoming 100th anniversary of Gdynia. Starting on Wednesday, 14 January, a train with a carriage commemorating our city's anniversary, Gdynia centenary logo, will appear on the tracks.

SKM and Gdynia are inextricably linked. The company originated in our city and has its headquarters here. Gdynia was built at the same time as the railway. To emphasise this, the Rapid Urban Railway decided to celebrate the city's centenary and prepared something special.

From Wednesday, 14 January, an anniversary train will hit the tracks. The train will consist of classic carriages. One of them will feature the logo of Gdynia's centenary – a symbol of the city that was built together with the railway. The train will run on the PKP SKM line in the Tri-City throughout the year.

The train will run from Gdynia Główna towards Gdańsk at 6:19, 8:47, 11:47, 14:57 and 19:27, and towards Wejherowo at 7:45, 10:18, 13:18, 16:23 and 20:53.

However, the entire anniversary train will be full of symbols. It is intended to refer to the history of the company and the individual stages of its development. This is because the paint schemes of carriages from different periods have been used. EN71 ‘Żółwik’, as it is called, was prepared to mark the 25th anniversary of PKP SKM in the Tri-City. For a quarter of a century, the company has been connecting Pomerania and its inhabitants every day.

In addition to referring to Gdynia's anniversary, the carriages will also feature references to the 100th anniversary of Polish Railways and the 200th anniversary of the railway, which serve as a historical backdrop and complement the anniversary message.
