Gdynia centenary in music and film: join the city's competitions

Gdynia has announced open competitions for proposals for cultural projects to be implemented in 2026. The initiatives are closely linked to the celebrations of Gdynia’s 100th anniversary. The city has allocated a total of PLN 350,000 to support two areas: music and film.

Non-governmental organisations and other entities engaged in public benefit activities are eligible to apply for the competitions organised by the Mayor of Gdynia. Each organisation may submit a maximum of two proposals within a single competition.

“We encourage you to take part in the competitions, especially as the Gdynia centenary provides an excellent opportunity to tell the story of the city through the language of music and film. We are looking for creative and original projects, as well as those that will resonate with residents. That is why we invite you to submit your proposals and join us in celebrating the centenary,” says Mariusz Bzdęga, Managing Director for Culture and Citizens Activity.

Competition for music projects

The aim of this call for proposals is to co-finance projects such as concerts, festivals and workshops that build local identity and engage residents.

  • The total budget for this purpose is PLN 150,000.
  • The maximum grant for a single project is PLN 37,500.
  • A minimum financial contribution of 1% of the project value is required.
  • Projects may be implemented between 1 April and 31 December 2026.

Film projects competition

The support is intended to strengthen the local creative sector, which is particularly important given Gdynia's presence in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

  • The total amount of funds available for this purpose is PLN 200,000.
  • The maximum grant for a single project is PLN 40,000.
  • A minimum financial contribution of 1% of the project value is required.
  • Projects may be implemented between 1 April and 31 December 2026.

You can participate in the competitions via the Witkac system. After completing the application in the system, you must deliver a signed confirmation of its submission to the Gdynia City Hall. This can be done in person at the Gdynia City Hall at 52/54 Marszałka Piłsudskiego Avenue or electronically via the ePUAP platform.

The deadline for submitting applications is 2 February 2026. The date of receipt of the signed confirmation by the office is decisive, not the date of sending the application via the electronic system. The results of the competitions will be announced by 18 March 2026.

Detailed information about the competitions is available from the staff of the Culture Department of the City of Gdynia:

  • music projects: Natalia Spychalska, tel. 58 527 37 47,
  • film projects: Paulina Hebda, tel. 58 527 37 52.

The two project competitions will join the open competition for offers to support the implementation of public tasks in the field of culture related to the celebration of the centenary of Gdynia in 2026, with a total budget of PLN 700,000.

The total pool of funds for competitions for NGOs in the field of culture in 2026 will amount to PLN 1,050,000 – an increase of 29% compared to last year.
