‘It all started with the sea’ – watch the birthday concert on Polsat

A parade of stars and a unique atmosphere – this is what the birthday concert ‘It all started with the sea’, which celebrated the 100th anniversary of Gdynia on 10 February, was like. There was plenty of music, but there were also references to Gdynia – its maritime character, film tradition and unique atmosphere. This Friday, 20 February, at 9:00 p.m., those who did not make it to Kościuszki Square, as well as those who want to relive these remarkable moments, will be able to watch the rebroadcast on Polsat Television. This is a great opportunity to relive the birthday atmosphere and celebrate Gdynia's centenary together.

On 10 February, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of Gdynia being granted city rights. On that day, numerous events for residents and lovers of Gdynia took place throughout the city.

The evening attractions attracted the most interest: the large-scale artistic and theatrical show GDYNIA STO*RY on 10 Lutego Street and the concert ‘It all started with the sea’ at Kościuszki Square. The biggest Polish stars performed on a large stage inspired by Gdynia’s modernism: Natalia Kukulska, Margaret, Andrzej Piaseczny, Natalia Szroeder, Tomasz Organek, Wiktor Dyduła, Szczyl, Natalia Muianga, Gracjana Górka and artists from the Musical Theatre – Karolina Trębacz, Maja Gadzińska and Krzysztof Wojciechowski. The concert was hosted by Paulina Sykut-Jeżyna and Tomasz Wolny.

We heard the greatest Polish and foreign hits in classic and modern arrangements, including: ‘Celebration’, ‘A Million Dreams’, ‘Tańcz głupia, tańcz’, ‘Tam słońce, gdzie my’, ‘Chodź, pomaluj mój świat’ and ‘Sailing’.

The birthday concert was complemented by Gdynia accents. Specially prepared film materials, showing archival footage, history and the contemporary face of Gdynia, were presented. There was no shortage of joy and emotion. The residents are united by a sense of community and love for our city.

Coverage of Gdynia's birthday events can be found on the website.

Anyone who was unable to attend the concert or would like to relive the birthday atmosphere can watch a rebroadcast of the concert on Polsat. It will be aired this Friday, 20 February, at 9:00 p.m.
